    A massive thank you to all who have shown up, volunteered, and supported our bulldogs (and our many events) at Faubion!!! We have THE BEST community!!! Much gratitude to you all!  Now on to May…the last full month of school!  

     

    Important Dates

    Middle School Course Forecasting: 5th – 7th Grade Families

    Beginning in mid/late-May, we will be forecasting for our middle school classes for next year. Much of the forecasting will focus on electives. We will be sending information home so that you may review elective offerings with your student.  

     

    8th Grade Families: Baby Pictures wanted!

    Calling all 8th grade families! Please email a baby or adorable/fun childhood picture of your 8th grader to Dr. Williams, for our annual Promotion Slide Show! (kwilliams6@pps.net)

     

    End of Year Activities

    Our annual Field Day will be Wednesday, June 12th. Interested in volunteering? Email us! Be sure your PPS background check is cleared. Are you interested/available to help set-up and decorate for 5th or 8th grade promotion? Let Dr Williams know! (kwilliams6@pps.net)

     

    End of the year Promotions

    For PK and 5th grade celebrations, please stay tune for information.  

     

    Kindergarten promotion will begin promptly June 13th at 9:00am in their classrooms. 5th grade promotion will be June 13th at 10am in the gymnasium. 8th grade promotion will be June 14th at 1:45pm in the gymnasium. Please know that due to seating limits, please be mindful of gym capacity. Additionally, we will be livestreaming promotions.  

     

    Specific 8th grade information will be sent very soon to 8th grade famlies. Thank you all for your ongoing support and care!!!

    Pronóstico del curso de la escuela intermedia: familias de 5.º a 7.º grado

    A partir de mediados o finales de mayo, haremos pronósticos para nuestras clases de escuela intermedia para el próximo año. Gran parte de las previsiones se centrarán en las asignaturas optativas. Enviaremos información a casa para que pueda revisar las ofertas optativas con su estudiante.

    ¡Llamando a todas las familias de 8º grado ! ¡Envíe por correo electrónico una foto de bebé o adorable/divertida de la infancia de su hijo de 8º grado al Dr. Williams para nuestra presentación de diapositivas de promoción anual!

    Nuestro Día de Campo anual será el miércoles 12 de junio . ¿Interesado en ser voluntario? ¡Envíanos un correo electrónico! Asegúrese de que su verificación de antecedentes de PPS esté aprobada. ¿Está interesado/disponible para ayudar con la instalación y decoración para la promoción de 5º u 8º grado ? ¡Hágaselo saber al Dr. Williams!

    Promociones de fin de año

    Para las celebraciones de PK y 5º grado , estén atentos para obtener información.

     

    La promoción de Kindergarten comenzará puntualmente el 13 de junio a las 9:00 am en sus salones de clases. La promoción de 5to grado será el 13 de junio a las 10am en el gimnasio. La promoción de 8vo grado será el 14 de junio a la 1:45pm en el gimnasio. Tenga en cuenta que, debido a los límites de asientos, tenga en cuenta la capacidad del gimnasio. Además, estaremos transmitiendo promociones en vivo.

     

    Muy pronto se enviará información específica sobre 8º grado a las familias de 8º grado . ¡¡¡Gracias a todos por su continuo apoyo y atención!!!

  • Earthstock Brings the Joy to the Crystal Ballroom

     Two students dance at Earthstock 2024.

    A little over 30 years ago, a Madison High School student named Joseph Janson had a simple wish. He wanted to go to a dance. But nothing was simple for Joseph, who was born with Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy and was confined to a wheelchair. 

    He confided his wish to Tony Nitz, who at that time was an educational assistant at Madison (now Leodis V. McDaniel High School). Tony had been working one-on-one with Joseph for months and he immediately went about making the young man’s dream come true.

    “The truth is, I would have done anything for Joseph,” Nitz said. “He was a unique person, and we had a very special bond.”

  • Glencoe Elementary School Counselor and GSA Coordinator Pens a Book About Chosen Family

     This is a photo of Madi Bourdon's book, A Kid's Book About Chosen Family.

    Madi Bourdon’s first book practically wrote itself. 

    According to the Glencoe Elementary School counselor and Gender Sexuality Alliance (GSA) coordinator, it only took them an hour and a half to finish A Kid’s Book About Chosen Family, which came out this March with A Kid’s Co. publishing.

  • Mission Accomplished: Roosevelt Senior Helps Green Card Holders Obtain U.S. Citizenship

    For the past three years, Alondra Nieves Barajas has been both student and teacher.

    Most days, the senior from Roosevelt High School attends class, does her homework, and spends time with her friends just like any other 18-year-old. But on Wednesday nights, you can find her at the front desk, teaching adults – often much older than herself – the ins and outs of the United States naturalization test.

    When Aaron Presberg first got the email from the White House, he thought it was some sort of prank. 

    Then he shared the message with a few colleagues who assured him that it was no joke, and the exciting reality that he had been invited to Washington, D.C. to present at the White House’s first-ever Summit for Sustainable and Healthy K–12 School Buildings and Grounds started to sink in.
